The combination of the activities (value added or non-value added) required transforming the prime materials and the information into a finished product and associated services.
This instruments makes it possible, through an observation in the field of the processes, to visualize the flow of the creation of a product or a service, highlighting the dysfunctions, such as the muda, mura e muri. The decrease of downflow time calculated during VSM constitutes the most important objective of a Lean program.
